Spirit of Mandela Poster Contest

The Nelson Mandela Children s Fund (Canada) is proud to present our first poster contest. This is an opportunity for students to put their creative talents to work in developing a poster which visualizes the Spirit of Mandela program.

The winner of the Spirit of Mandela Poster Contest will be announced at the official launch of the Spirit of Mandela Week. The poster will be the official poster for the Spirit of Mandela Week 2009 and will be distributed in thousands of schools across Canada. The winner will also receive a year’s subscription to Kayak: Canada’s History Magazine for Kids Magazine and a Kayak T-shirt, sponsored by Canada’s National History Society, a T-Shirt of the Spirit of Mandela Program and a copy of the poster will also be sent to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund office in South Africa.

You are invited to design a poster that will be used for
NMCF (Canada) 2009 Spirit of Mandela Week Changing the Way Society Treats its Children and Youth using the following themes:
South Africa, Social Justice, Human Rights, Nelson Mandela, Children and Youth, and/or the Millennium Development Goals.

CONTEST ENTRY GUIDELINES:
Your teacher must be to registered online to the Spirit of Mandela Program (www.spiritofmandela.ca)
Contest Entries will only be accepted in colour.
Artistic talent is helpful but not necessary.
The poster should be two dimensional (flat surface), using various mediums the artist(s) desires, e.g. crayon, paint, collage, etc., or combination. Photographs and three-dimensional submissions made of tinsel, cotton or wooden sticks for example, will not be accepted. Computer generated posters will not be accepted.
Images from calendars, magazines, web sites, etc., are not permitted.
Only original artwork will be accepted.
Text boxes are not permitted; titles or short sentences (maximum 10 words) are permitted
Candidates will attach the proper registration form showing their name, address, age, grade, name & address of their school.
Your poster will become the property of Nelson Mandela Children s Fund (Canada).
Contest entries will not be returned.

DIMENSIONS: Entries must be no larger than 43 cm x 53 cm OR 17" x 21".

ELIGIBILITY: Individual students or groups of students from K-12 in Canada

Please clearly fill out the form (available in the attachment) and attached it at the back of your poster.
